How to Install & Set Up the K9 Free Web Filter

Step by Step Instructions
1. Go to
http://www.k9webprotection.com/
2. Click on “Get K9 today for free.”
3. Fill out the web form.
4· **Do not use your regular home email address.
i. Use a work email address OR
ii. Use one from gmail.com, yahoo.com or inbox.com OR
iii. Use a family member or good friends email address
5· The reason for this is because when you log into the K9 Administration page
there’s a link to send a 24-hour temporary password in case you forgot yours. If
you use a family email address that you kids can easily get in to then they can
change your password and turn off or uninstall K9.
6. Wait for the email from K9 with your license key.
7. Download K9:
http://www1.k9webprotection.com/getk9/download-software.php
8. Install K9 and insert the license key you received in your email.
9. During installation you’ll also be asked for a password. Pick something your
kids won’t guess but something you’ll remember.
10. If you have a firewall you’ll need to instruct it to allow k9filter.exe
access to the Internet.
11. Log into K9 and check the filtering settings.
